DLC 772 SCIF (CPC) is ready for bargaining!
This will be our toughest bargaining battle in history!
Are you ready to fight?
The Central Valley has become the outsourcing capital of the State.
Why you ask?
Could it be because we are the people willing to do the work at the pay rate we are getting? Because of our lower cost of living, could this administration even hire people to do our work in any other location in the State? Fresno is the capital of the SJ Valley and we therefore command the cheapest labor force in the State.
Do you think this makes us weak?
Or does it give us more power?
Stand up for Public Services!
Stand up for your job!
The budget & The Deficit
The average California budget is well over $100+ Billion Dollars. Last contract, the members of SEIU Local 1000 fought off a 14% pay cut, threatened strike, and won the largest contract of any Union in the history of CA's bargaining. A $500+ Million dollar contract!
This was less than 0.5% of the CA budget!
$8.5 Billion dollars per year goes uncollected in taxes! This administration refuses to higher the adequate number of Public Service Employees to find the taxpayers and corporations that continue, every year, to steal from our California tax payers.
This administration continues to outsource our jobs!
To the private sector our jobs continue to go, costing an average of 3 times more money to the tax-payers of our great state.
More bonds on CA's credit card?
This administration has found a sneaky way to cut Public Services by getting the taxpayers to vote on Bonds, which have to be paid back with interest and also steals money from the general fund. This is where Public Services get their funding.
Rehabilitation or outsource the inmates to other States?
Rehabilitation is the only solid solution to help shut the revolving door of CA's prison system. Instead, this administration ships our inmates to other States. But, not to other State prisons, but to private prisons. How much is this costing us? California voters approved a $9 Billion dollar bond to deal with our overcrowding inmate population. Less than 0.5% is going toward rehabilitation!
Does this administration want to get out of debt?
Or do they want to continue to cut the vital Public Services to our Great State?
I know! Let's cut more Public Services, buy more bonds, and sell the CA Lottery!
In the eyes of the voting, Public Service Employees are overpaid, under worked, pay nothing for healthcare, we are all retiring millionaires, and, of course, the defect is always our fault. This administration plans to convince the voters that more bonds are needed, potentially encouraging even more cuts to Public Services. The most profitable agency in Public Services is the CA Lottery ~ $4 Billion dollars per year.. PROFIT!!
What can you do?
Wear purple on Wednesdays!!!
Is it futile? Or do you think it is a simple way to show that we mean business? Wearing a stand-out-color on the day that most meetings are held is a GREAT way to be visible. Did you know that management is told to report the Union presence at the worksites? Maybe they just don't on Wednesdays?
Sign the CAT cards!
We are setting up meetings to ask members to be contacted as soon as there is something to spread around to the members at the worksites. (ie. new bargaining news, solidarity breaks, upcoming events, etc.)
Attend our big rally!
We may not have a May Revise Rally, but a Contract Ending Rally. Stay tuned, as we will be asking for your support. Last year we had over 5,000 people at our rally. This year we are shooting for 10,000. The trips are fun, you can bring your kids, special t-shirts & other trinkets, raffle prizes, and lots of FUN!!!
Watch Channel 1000!!!
The latest update is EVERY Friday at 2:00pm.
This is our new premiere way to relay information to the membership. Channel 1000 is a you-tube like broadcast and is available by simply going to http://www.seiulocal1000.org. You can view the past and latest updates at anytime!
PLEASE take advantage of this very new and unique form of communication. Bargaining depends on the communication between our leadership and the members.
Listen to the latest news!
Stay tuned for email, snail, mail, FAX, & phone call campaigns during these upcoming bargaining months. We will be asking for you to help us, help you.
Understand what it takes to get a contract!
Do you really believe that the best argument, proof of poor working conditions, studies of how underpaid we are, etc. is going to get us anything at the bargaining table? Raises? Better working conditions? Better benefits? We proved it last contract by going an entire year without this administration even talking to us. We rallied the members, threatened strike, and won against one the most anti-union administrations in history!
It takes all of us, working together, fighting the good fight for what we know we deserve!
Understand the chicken and the egg!
How can we get the contract we deserve, if we don't get the members to stand up and fight? How can we get the members to stand up and fight, unless we have the contract we deserve? It has to start somewhere and everything is in place.. ready for the members to stand up and fight!
Finally!
This isn't just about us getting our parity pay, cost of living increase, etc. This is about how we are the largest Public Employee Union in California. This is about being a Public Service Employee working for the the 7th largest economy in the world. This is about being used. We set the business and labor standards for the entire nation. If we fail, then the entire country will follow suit. SEIU Local 1000 is now 92,000+ strong. With all the other SEIU Locals in California, we are 650,000+ strong. With all of the SEIU Locals in the nation, we are well over 1.8 Million strong ... and we aren't going anywhere!!
Be proud to be a Public Service Employee!
We are the reason that California operates!
